“If You Want Progress & Prosperity, Vote For NPP” - Akufo-Addo(read more)

The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is calling on Ghanaians who are desirous of change in their current circumstances and are yearning for progress and prosperity in their lives to vote for the NPP in this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to Nana Akufo-Addo, he is of the firm conviction that “Ghanaians want change in this year’s election. Ghanaians are tired of the incompetence. There are no jobs and the nation is drenched with hardships and suffering.”

The NPP leader has, therefore, called on all NPP members to get fully involved in the party’s campaign, and extended an invitation to all Ghanaians who want change to “come and join the NPP bandwagon. The elephant is big enough to carry all of us.”

He assured that victory for the NPP will be a victory for Ghana, adding that “we are not coming to line our pockets with the riches of the nation. We are coming to do a job for Ghana, so we can bring progress, prosperity, and in particular jobs for the teeming masses of unemployed Ghanaians.”

Nana Akufo-Addo made these remarks when the NPP’s recently elected parliamentary candidate for the Ablekuma West constituency, the incumbent MP, Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekuful, and a large delegation from the constituency paid a courtesy call on him at his Nima residence on Thursday, April 21.

Roni Nicol, a true-blooded NPP man

Whilst congratulating Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekuful on her victory, and describing her as a “talented MP who has a bright future” and “one of the foremost female voices in our country”, Nana Akufo-Addo also reserved special praised for Mr. Roni Nicol, the other contestant in the April 9 primary.

Mr. Nicol, who accompanied the MP to Nana Akufo-Addo’s residence, had, in the aftermath of the primary, pledged his and the unflinching backing of his supporters towards ensuring that Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekuful retained the seat for the NPP.

“Roni has shown that he is a true-blooded NPP member. He contested the primary and the votes he garnered were very substantial. After the vote, whatever he needed to do to ensure oneness prevailed in the party, he did.

He needs to be commended highly. Roni is a first class example to the party of how people should behave,” he said.

He continued, “NPP always remembers those who work hard for the party. I am here as flagbearer of the party partly because of the work I did in the past. Roni, this is your first time, there is plenty of opportunity for you in the future. Be what you are – a strong party man.

Give Ursula your support, make sure she is returned with an increased majority and NPP people will reward you one day. What I have seen is reassuring and I believe Ablekuma West is on the cusp of something very great.”

NPP votes will increase in Ablekuma West

Thanking Nana Akufo-Addo for his warm reception, Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekuful reassured the NPP flagbearer that “we are determined to make Ablekuma West an example for other constituencies to follow suit.

We are going to work hard, and, by His Grace, with an enhanced margin. This year, we in in the NPP are not interested in just parliamentary seats. We are interested in a President from the NPP for Ghana. We will do whatever it takes.”

She also disclosed that she had taken the initiative towards reconciling members of the party in her constituency who were disgruntled before, during and after parliamentary primaries.

“I am confident that God will bless this initiative and calm every heart that is in pain. We will enter every household and talk to those who had said they were not going to vote, so they change their minds. We will make sure we bring every member on board so they vote for the NPP”, she said.

On the 36,975 votes the NPP chalked in 2012 election in the constituency, she pledged a significant increase over the 2012 figure in 2016. This, she explained, will be Ablekuma West’s contribution towards ensuring that Nana Akufo-Addo obtains the 50%+1 vote needed for victory.

“We have to win the next election. We are all mindful of that and we will do whatever it takes to ensure that victory is ours. If they are counting the constituencies that contributed to the NPP victory, Ablekuma West will be one of the foremost. We thank you for your support and encouragement over the years,” she concluded.
