King of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu Ababio II, says his main interest ever since ascending on the throne as emperor is to work for the government of the day to ensure that Ghana develops. “I work for the government of the day because what I know is that whenever we are asked to elect a president and whole country settles on one – he is the person that I have to work with to ensure that Ghana progresses”. “I have to ensure that I work hand-in-hand with the President – advise him where possible all in the interest of Ghana. What is bad – I won’t be able to say it in public but rather invite him over for us to discuss it behind closed-doors. If he decides to take the advise, fine but if not I can’t force him”, he noted. The King made this observation when Africa’s fastest growing media Group, EIB Network paid a courtesy call on him at Manhyia, Wednesday. The media Group was led by CEO Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye Adisi, aka Bola Ray. The overlord commenting further said he had worked with four successive governments during which the progress of Ghana was at the center of all their deliberations. Leaders of the various opposition political parties, he added, have also in one way or the other sought his guidance over key issues bothering on the progress of Ghana. “All of them have come to me for discussions about the progress of the country. Opposition leaders have also come to me for advice. We do all these things in the interest of mother Ghana”. “What we need to understand is that Ghana is bigger than all of us. And so my thinking has always centered on what we can do in the area of health, agriculture, energy, water among many others to improve on livelihoods”.
