Assembly
members of Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipal Assembly have
for the second time failed to endorse the Presidential nominee, Ishmael
Zagoon, for the position of Municipal Chief Executive.
Supporters
of the rejected nominee are, therefore, demanding a refund of GHC 1,000
from each of the Assembly members as they claim they paid them to
endorse their man.
Atinka FM reported that, out of the 52 total vote cast, 31 approved Zagoon’s nomination while 19 disapproved.
One ballot was rejected while one Assembly man failed to turn up.
This means the nominee could not secure the two-thirds of the total votes cast to confirm his nomination.
The
development sparked confusion Tuesday as followers of the nominee
accosted some of the Assembly members to demand their cash back.
Some
of the followers allegedly used water and egg to curse the assembly
members who took money but did not vote for the nominee .
Some of
the Assembly members who interacted with Jerry Asare indicated that,
they could not refund the money since they have used the money to
purchase appliances such as freezers and television sets, adding that
they didn’t beg the nominee to pay them the GHC 1,000 in order to vote
for him. |
