Highlife
singer Nana Quame, who performed for many dignitaries at this year’s
Kwahu Easter festival- including New Patriotic Party flagbearer Nana
Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo- has endorsed the 72 year old for President. Nana Quame made the choice known during an appearance on on Starr fm Tuesday.
The
multiple award winning artiste said although he has no vote, due to
being unable to register, he feels Nana Akuffo-Addo would be the right
man to take the country forward.
“The truth of the matter is, I
haven’t got a vote because I wasn’t around when the registration was
done but if I got a vote…I will vote for the NPP for one or two
reasons.” He said.
He added that it is only in Ghana that people
get squeamish when celebrities endorse politicians, as it is a common
practice in the US and the UK.
“I think it’s good to endorse
presidential candidates because it’s a practice that is common in the US
and U.K and I don’t see anything wrong with it so if I have to endorse
NPP why not?”
Nana Akuffo-Addo would be going up against John
Mahama for the second time, after he lost the 2012 elections following
Mahama taking over the mantle from the deceased Professor John Evans
Atta Mills.
The singer survived a car crash whilst returning from performing in Kwahu. |
