President
John Dramani Mahama has encouraged young supporters of the National
Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region to register in the
upcoming limited voter registration to enable them vote in the general
elections on November 7.
The President said this at Sokpoe in the South Tongu district of the Volta Region.
“When
the register is open, make sure you go and put down your name. I don’t
want you to come to rallies to shout “E dey be Keke” and on November 7,
you won’t have a vote. This time we want a turn out of 99.99%,”
President Mahama said.
On March 12, the Electoral Commission
conducted a pilot biometric registration in some selected polling
stations across the country.
The limited registration itself is scheduled for April 28.
It
was initially scheduled for this month [March] but the Commission
postpone because the constitutional instrument (CI), which is to
regulate the registration, had not matured.
All those who were unable to register in 2012 will have the opportunity to do so on on April 28, 2016. |
